When people research C60 supplementation, the conversation almost always centres on the molecule itself. Purity percentages. Solvent-free production. The Baati 2012 study. That is understandable. C60 is what makes the product unusual. But if you stop the conversation there, you are missing half of the equation.
Because C60 does not travel alone. It travels dissolved in olive oil. And the olive oil you choose determines whether the finished product performs at the top of its potential, or degrades before it even reaches you.

C60 fullerene is virtually insoluble in water. To move it into a form a person can handle and use, you need a lipid — an oil. Several oils have been tried across the market: olive oil, coconut oil, MCT oil, avocado oil, hemp oil.
The Baati et al. (2012) study — the most cited paper in the C60 literature — used olive oil. That single research choice, made by a French laboratory studying toxicity, is why olive oil became the reference carrier for C60. It is not a coincidence. It is not marketing. It is a research protocol from a peer-reviewed publication in Biomaterials.
Coconut oil, MCT, and other carriers can dissolve C60. But if you want to align your product with the published safety and dose data, olive oil is the reference. Everything else is extrapolation.
Once you commit to olive oil as the carrier, the next question is: which olive oil?
The Baati protocol used the term "olive oil" without further specification. Some producers have taken advantage of that vagueness and treat olive oil as a commodity — the cheapest bulk oil that qualifies for the label. That is a mistake.

Under EU Regulation 432/2012, olive oil polyphenols carry an authorised health claim relating to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress, when the product contains at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives per 20 g of olive oil. That is a claim about the oil, not about C60 — but it means the carrier itself is not inert.
